Chinese post-punk and electronica enthusiasts Re-TROS have set themselves a mission to be the first Chinese band to go global, and their chances are looking good from what we've seen so far. Originally drawing influences from the likes of Joy Division, Bauhaus and Gang of Four, Re-TROS have developed their sound to incorporate experimental electronic elements, in what the band refer to as an 'electrified' interpretation of post-punk. The epic 9-minute onslaught of 'Hailing Drums' is the follow up to their recently-released single 'Pigs In The River', which caught our attention instantly with its angular guitars and Nick Cave-esque sneer. 'Hailing Drums' leans more towards the band's electronic side, based primarily on a loop from a Dave Smith Sequencer, which provides a powerful foundation for experimentation with guitars, drums, vocals and of course more synthesizers. -HLMX
